Meet the Trainers

At HPF, our training and teaching methods incorporate a strong foundation in flatwork—including dressage—as the basis for success in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings.

Whether working with a green horse or pony or tuning up the made hunter, jumper, or equitation horse, we can help you accomplish your goals.

Individual training rides or monthly packages are available. Trailer-ins welcome.

Robin Lawrence

HPF Head Trainer/Owner Robin Lawrence has over 35 years of experience in showing horses (from small ponies to hunters to dressage to three-day eventing to jumpers) both locally and nationally. Twenty of those years have been in a professional capacity as a rider, trainer, and judge. Well respected for her “eye” for recognizing quality horses and riders, Robin is in the process of obtaining her USEF judge’s card.

With her keen eye for equine talent, Robin takes several trips each year to Europe to find the perfect horse for a rider or an investment horse for a client. Many of her imported horses have gone on to win national championships and year-end awards.

Jen Kosegi

Jen, who describes herself as a “human trainer,” teaches beginner/intermediate lessons for students of all ages (with a special interest in equitation) and also handles PR, marketing, advertising, and horse-show management duties for HPF. She’s also a professional writer and medical editor. Jen has been riding for most of her life, with a few breaks for raising her family (including 3 kids). As a teenager, Jen rode at U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team member Chris Kappler’s family farm. During college, she was a groom for world-champion female polo player Sunny Hale and was a founding member of the Purdue Polo Team and a member of the Purdue Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. Daughter Abby has ridden with Robin since age 6, and Jen, a seasoned horse show mom, often supervises her schooling sessions. She even occasionally manages a schooling session of her own.

Vanessa Rieger

Vanessa has been riding horse since age 7. She has experience in basic dressage, hunters, and with cutting horses. She teaches riders aged 5 to 60+ years. Vanessa’s work experience prior to joining HPF includes executive recruiting, and as medical staff in the veterinary & medical fields.
